If economic got hurt because of restrictions why dont we see other side govt paid ppl to sit at home for almost 1.5 year CERB. I agree with you, but on the other hand I do think that the covid restrictions shouldn't be completely invoked, instead it should be removed step by step so that there doesn't arise another wave of the pandemic as it has happened the previous 2times. India did the same result and as a result we could see a peak rise of cases all of a sudden. Therefore, in my opinion, I would like to see step by step easing of the restrictions.

Reason is not just because they are creating disturbance here but they are harassing people living in downtown ( Area of protest). If you pass that area wearing mask , some protestors will harass you until you remove your mask. It’s really not peaceful, whole area is hearing horn 24/7, stores/shops are closed . I completely understand it’s peaceful compare to India but not for Canadians. I was in support until I saw such videos and experiences by friends living in that area.

I think there protesters are wrong due to the following reasons: 1. Government passed the bill in 2021 and the rules were applied in 2022 so protesters were having so much time to be vaccinated 2. Further in my opinion even when the government doesn't do vaccination of truck drivers and if covid spreads even then government would need to answer that why didn't they take necessary steps 3.Although choice is necessary but sometimes it become necessary to force to people to do good for their own ie by not vaccinating they are also putting others life in danger.
Hi Dhruv - how could you miss the detial of Ambassador Bridge that was blocked by the protestors for about 6 days. This blocking of the bridge sees 25% of trade between 2 countries which is nearly US$360 billion daily. This had a huge impact on Canada's trade and economy. This was not violent but against the law.

Just want to point out though that the emergency is only declared in the city of Ottawa and not across the country. It is a targeted localized intervention to help de escalate the situation in our capital city and is not similar to the emergency declared in India for example in the 70s.

Great video, as usual - pretty detailed.. Though, I would like to also mention that it's not just about the fact that those people are doing the protest peacefully, so no harm is being done. We should also be mindful that the honking is disturbing thousands of Canadians in Ottawa and it must be so much mental stress for them too. Also, we are seeing till Toronto here that the prices of our daily items have increased quite a lot. In an already supply short Canada, this is raising the daily bills for lakhs of Canadians each day so even if 30% people agree to it, all 100% people are getting affected which is not being discussed. The restrictions are already easing out from March 1 - no vaccine passport, no gathering restrictions so it's already being dealt with. But I agree that the government could have been a bit more thoughtful about making such stern decisions. Anyway, those were my two scents as we live in Toronto! 😊✌️ Please keep up the good work!

There was one M.L.A from Alberta who joined with family this rally. Now farmers movement in India didn’t allow any political party to join them . Today they have put kids in front of the police to avoid arrest, these people are acting like Terrorist who use Children for there goals. In Democracy you are allowed to protest but you should do that responsibly.

I stay in Ottawa in the vicinity of protests. I completely understand the democratic right to protest. I see the discussed points neutrally and would like to share some points that are not discussed here- 1. The COVID-19 restrictions are decided by provincial government and not federal government (Justin Trudeau as PM). There is no point in blocking parliament roads. Ask questions to your respective provincial government. 2. The mandatory vaccination for truckers was a reciprocative action to US banning unvaccinated truckers from November. Any country in diplomatic world has right to take such reciprocative action and ban truckers ( US / Canadian) who are unvaccinated. 3. The restrictions imposed in Canada were not "harsh" but needed. The health system was not well equipped. As the pandemic is waning, more and more pandemic restrictions are loosening. For truckers- We understood what you want to convey .. You missed a major point, Dhruv. These trucks and protests have strategically blocked some of most major supply chain routes in Canada leading to millions of dollars of loss every single day. The auto industry itself has lost nearly $300 million. That's why the emergency act was invoked.

I think one important point is not covered here .. free health care in Canada . If person choose not to get vaccine and get Covid , all cost burden goes to government . Due to this rule many emergency response workers lost their job for not getting vaccine so truckers are not special. Also due to high rate of hospitalization in past many critical surgeries delayed or canceled. Emergency act seems harsh however blocking road and causing noise pollution is also not right too. Honking is not common in Canada..
Agree!! I live in Canada as well and was thinking this same point. All the anti-vaxxers are then getting COVID and ending up in the hospital. 80% of Canada is fully vaccinated so it’s the majority of us whose tax dollars then end up being used on them. And the hospitals being full is causing a lot of stress on the front line workers. I think it’s completely okay to mandate vaccinations for those whose jobs require them to travel out of country or work with patients or be in contact with people. Similarly, I don’t think the restrictions have been too bad otherwise because being vaccinated, I was able to eat in restaurants and go to the movies, etc. other then the last month when things were shut down and maybe a couple months last year. But these restrictions were caused by a rise of cases which are caused by the non vaccinated people 😕
Also, the statistics he showed in the end saying the cases aren’t bad are from February 14. We were in lockdown for pretty much all of January so obviously the cases will be down right now. They will only go up again now that everything is opening up.

Trucker's protest took direct inspiration from farmers protest, but unlike Farmers protest these truckers are causing a massive inconvenience for the locals and blocking major a trade route which is effecting the jobs and causing inflation of the goods. Many Canadians including myself think Justin Trudeau took the right step because they have to remove the blockade for economy to resume. They people can carry on the protest but without blocking any major trading route.

One difference between Indian Farmer Protest and Canadian Trucker Protest: Indians were stopped at Delhi's Border and not allowed to get in, Canadians were not stopped they actually went till Parliament Hill and kept honking and some of them even haressing local people and businesses. Nurses are being told not to wear scrubs to protect themselves. One's right to protest doesn't mean they can snatch others right to live with dignity.

I live in Toronto, Canada and my opinion on this is that every citizen has right to protest peacefully but having said that no one has right to stop the progress of the country’s economy by blocking day to day businesses. I agree that it is so frustrating for everyone(not only just trucker’s) to see these lockdown rules whenever there is increase in Covid cases but you have to understand that you can be safe only by vaccination and also you can keep other’s safe by getting vaccinated. It’s the truckers, who are blocking the trade bridges and harassing the residents by honking just to show the government that they are not going to back off to satisfy their ego and becoz of that government has every right in its power to invoke emergency act. I support JT here but I also want to say that he could have handled this situation better(easier said than done). You have mentioned in your video that Scandinavian countries and England have lifted all the locked down rules but do you really think that it has solved their issues? Sweden hits record level of infections last month and has 15K active cases with 78 deaths and their government is now recommending for fourth Covid jab..England has 46K active covid cases and 236 deaths as of today… Denmark has 42K active cases and 30 deaths as of today… Every country and every government has their own way of handling the pandemic, so comparing Canada with other countries doesn’t make any sense! Even though I hate this lockdowns but kudos to the Canadian government for making it as easy as possible(this is from my personal experience) but can they do better?.. Of course they can! I agree with you, but on the other hand I do think that the covid restrictions shouldn't be completely invoked, instead it should be removed step by step so that there doesn't arise another wave of the pandemic as it has happened the previous 2times. If you pass that area wearing mask , some protestors will harass you until you remove your mask.
It’s really not peaceful, whole area is hearing horn 24/7, stores/shops are closed .
I completely understand it’s peaceful compare to India but not for Canadians.

I think there protesters are wrong due to the following reasons:
1. Government passed the bill in 2021 and the rules were applied in 2022 so protesters were having so much time to be vaccinated
2. Further in my opinion even when the government doesn't do vaccination of truck drivers and if covid spreads even then government would need to answer that why didn't they take necessary steps
3.Although choice is necessary but sometimes it become necessary to force to people to do good for their own ie by not vaccinating they are also putting others life in danger.
Hi Dhruv - how could you miss the detial of Ambassador Bridge that was blocked by the protestors for about 6 days. This blocking of the bridge sees 25% of trade between 2 countries which is nearly US$360 billion daily. This had a huge impact on Canada's trade and economy.

Just want to point out though that the emergency is only declared in the city of Ottawa and not across the country. It is a targeted localized intervention to help de escalate the situation in our capital city and is not similar to the emergency declared in India for example in the 70s.

Great video, as usual - pretty detailed.. Though, I would like to also mention that it's not just about the fact that those people are doing the protest peacefully, so no harm is being done. We should also be mindful that the honking is disturbing thousands of Canadians in Ottawa and it must be so much mental stress for them too. Also, we are seeing till Toronto here that the prices of our daily items have increased quite a lot. In an already supply short Canada, this is raising the daily bills for lakhs of Canadians each day so even if 30% people agree to it, all 100% people are getting affected which is not being discussed. The restrictions are already easing out from March 1 - no vaccine passport, no gathering restrictions so it's already being dealt with. But I agree that the government could have been a bit more thoughtful about making such stern decisions. Anyway, those were my two scents as we live in Toronto! 😊✌️ Please keep up the good work!

There was one M.L.A from Alberta who joined with family this rally. Now farmers movement in India didn’t allow any political party to join them . Today they have put kids in front of the police to avoid arrest, these people are acting like Terrorist who use Children for there goals. In Democracy you are allowed to protest but you should do that responsibly.

I stay in Ottawa in the vicinity of protests. I completely understand the democratic right to protest.
I see the discussed points neutrally and would like to share some points that are not discussed here-
1. The COVID-19 restrictions are decided by provincial government and not federal government (Justin Trudeau as PM). There is no point in blocking parliament roads. Ask questions to your respective provincial government.
2. The mandatory vaccination for truckers was a reciprocative action to US banning unvaccinated truckers from November. Any country in diplomatic world has right to take such reciprocative action and ban truckers ( US / Canadian) who are unvaccinated.
3. The restrictions imposed in Canada were not "harsh" but needed. The health system was not well equipped. As the pandemic is waning, more and more pandemic restrictions are loosening.
For truckers- We understood what you want to convey .. Now go home and empty Ottawa Streets! Ye sab dogalapan hai

I think one important point is not covered here .. free health care in Canada . If person choose not to get vaccine and get Covid , all cost burden goes to government . Due to this rule many emergency response workers lost their job for not getting vaccine so truckers are not special.
Also due to high rate of hospitalization in past many critical surgeries delayed or canceled.
Emergency act seems harsh however blocking road and causing noise pollution is also not right too. Honking is not common in Canada..
Agree!! I live in Canada as well and was thinking this same point. All the anti-vaxxers are then getting COVID and ending up in the hospital. 80% of Canada is fully vaccinated so it’s the majority of us whose tax dollars then end up being used on them. And the hospitals being full is causing a lot of stress on the front line workers.
I think it’s completely okay to mandate vaccinations for those whose jobs require them to travel out of country or work with patients or be in contact with people. Similarly, I don’t think the restrictions have been too bad otherwise because being vaccinated, I was able to eat in restaurants and go to the movies, etc. other then the last month when things were shut down and maybe a couple months last year. But these restrictions were caused by a rise of cases which are caused by the non vaccinated people 😕
Also, the statistics he showed in the end saying the cases aren’t bad are from February 14. We were in lockdown for pretty much all of January so obviously the cases will be down right now. They will only go up again now that everything is opening up.

Trucker's protest took direct inspiration from farmers protest, but unlike Farmers protest these truckers are causing a massive inconvenience for the locals and blocking major a trade route which is effecting the jobs and causing inflation of the goods.

One difference between Indian Farmer Protest and Canadian Trucker Protest: Indians were stopped at Delhi's Border and not allowed to get in, Canadians were not stopped they actually went till Parliament Hill and kept honking and some of them even haressing local people and businesses. Nurses are being told not to wear scrubs to protect themselves. One's right to protest doesn't mean they can snatch others right to live with dignity.

I live in Toronto, Canada and my opinion on this is that every citizen has right to protest peacefully but having said that no one has right to stop the progress of the country’s economy by blocking day to day businesses. I agree that it is so frustrating for everyone(not only just trucker’s) to see these lockdown rules whenever there is increase in Covid cases but you have to understand that you can be safe only by vaccination and also you can keep other’s safe by getting vaccinated.
It’s the truckers, who are blocking the trade bridges and harassing the residents by honking just to show the government that they are not going to back off to satisfy their ego and becoz of that government has every right in its power to invoke emergency act. I support JT here but I also want to say that he could have handled this situation better(easier said than done).
You have mentioned in your video that Scandinavian countries and England have lifted all the locked down rules but do you really think that it has solved their issues? Sweden hits record level of infections last month and has 15K active cases with 78 deaths and their government is now recommending for fourth Covid jab..England has 46K active covid cases and 236 deaths as of today… Denmark has 42K active cases and 30 deaths as of today…
Every country and every government has their own way of handling the pandemic, so comparing Canada with other countries doesn’t make any sense! Even though I hate this lockdowns but kudos to the Canadian government for making it as easy as possible(this is from my personal experience) but can they do better?.. Of course they can!
